Learning in the Corporate World

I am still walking the uphill grind of the 31 Day to a Better Blog Chocolate Challenge. While the chocolate has no doubt been consumed by the MiniLegends, I am wading onwards and upwards, and not so alone as this picture may represent.

I thought I would cheat tonight and knock of some really really easy stuff.

Day 19 - Respond to Comments on your Blog

Nice and easy, have been doing this since the beginning, at the same time as emailing replies, 1 bird 2 stones DONE

Day 23 - Go on a dead link hunt

Well my blog isn’t THAT old - so how crap could the links be? Started using a program called Xenu’s Link Sleuth. Just installed an app, executed it, added blog URL and away it went. Frighteningly yes, I have a number of dead links that I am going to need to fix [yay more work], it also for some reason won’t read any links to Wikipedia. I also visit the blogs of a few of my peers whom have waded through this task before me. Cammy Bean recommended Google Webmaster which I subscribed to. You need to verify your website, which I seem to be struggling with, but it is late, so will explore in more detail tomorrow. The dead-links tool can’t even find my website, so not sure what the heck is with that - might give that one a miss. Found something called LinkTiger that looks great. For free, it checks 1000 links a week on your account and you don’t even need to download an app. Again thwarted. The URL they sent me to authenticate my account won’t bloody work!

Not entirely sure I feel this task is completed. A sense of frustration more than anything else.

Day 30 - Explore a Social Media Site

Again, easy - have done this without realising I was completing a task. I have become a diehard Facebook addict in the last month, and have even started feeding my blog posts into here. I was surprised at the pub a few weeks back when my friend Kegger aka Richard Stedman mentioned he had been reading my posts, and while not a blogger, had been applying the principles to his website at work with surprising success and increasing site traffic :). Recently (ie the last 5 days) I have started Ning-ing - still trying to get my head around that! Think I will call this task completed.

Will go update this post now, so I know where I am at. Does that mean I have also finished Day 4 - Interlink posts? Hell- may as well - and have done it in another of other posts too!
