Using Google Pages to make my life easier

Posted by: Sue Hickton | September 11, 2007 | No Comment |

I read recently that someone had attempted to use Google Pages to create a simple website.   A pretty neat idea from Google, as some people don’t have the technical skill set to deal with FTP’s, Dreamweaver and other media for creating and loading sites.

I was frustrated a few weeks back with the sheer quantity of websites that seem to be perennially open on my browser both at home and at work.  Going through the obvious then:

1a) Different favourites at work and at home and 1b) I hate using favourites

2) Have gotten tired of searching my tags in del.icio.us

3) Tired of typing them into a page every time

4) I can only lock so many sites onto my browser toolbars

So I thought I would use Google Pages to create a type of ‘master’ homepage if you like.   This home page would be a simple one page site that is clustered into links of 3 groups 1) my work b) my web2.0 addictions and c) the other me :) .

Obviously you need to start with a Google account :) .  Follow the instructions below for details on how to create your own Google Page.

To have a look at my Google Page in the the flesh (or html) so to speak – visit http://fishgirl7.googlepages.com/home .  I have been using this page for a number of weeks now on a variety of pc’s and it’s bloody wonderful :) It still needs some work as I keep remembering things that need to be on there, but as I said, to date, bloody wonderful.
