Impacts of Changing your Themes in Edublogs

Posted by: Sue Hickton | September 2, 2007 | 2 Comments |

I had the same theme in Edublogs for a while, and with my renewed activity in blogging, I faffed around with the look and feel of my blog and made a change to the theme.

There are a number of consequences to this action!  As you may remember, I said that my site meter had stopped working and collecting data in a previous post.  It turns out that when you change your theme, your widget settings and so forth also change.  For example, I also lost my RSS feed, and this was only pointed out through a comment from a Reader.

So, if changing your theme, make sure you update your important widgets!

Yeh, different themes use different names for widgets – the one bonus is that if you switch back, all your old widgets will still be there :)

ah sweet – Thanks James! It wasn’t until someone pointed it out to me, that I realised I had lost my widgets LOL. Nice to know that I can regress with ease
