Widgets widgets widgets

I remember when a widget was purple with pink spots and my aquaculture students used widgets to calculate productivity of ponds of widgets they were growing. Or even the genetic permutations one could get from breeding the pink spotted purple widget with the rare pink spotted blue widget.

On attempting to get into this Web2.0 stuff, it appears that widgets are now much more than the machinations of torture my brain dreamed up for my former students :). I googled widgets and got 30 800 hits on the word. I then investigated widgets and Edublogs, given that I am meant to be mastering this concept and got 159 000 hits. Widgets gone mad, even to the point of Bling for Blogs. All of a sudden, at 34 I am feeling old. I only learnt last year what bling is, let alone having it for a blog!

This site is a wiki on educational software and has a heap of information on widgets. I suspect my day off tomorrow and ANZAC day will be spent playing with widgets and breaking my blog.
